SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera, who cried while apologizing last year for taking a banned substance that led to a 50-game suspension, was arrested for investigation of driving under the influence of marijuana, the California Highway Patrol said Friday. Cabrera was arrested early Wednesday after the CHP dispatch centre was notified of a possible DUI driver by the U.S. Border Patrol at a checkpoint in Dulzura, some 25 miles southeast of downtown San Diego. The CHP said Cabrera was determined to be under the influence of marijuana. After being taken to the CHP El Cajon Area Office, he was not showing signs of still being under the influence of marijuana and was cited and released to the custody of his mother-in-law, the CHP said. "Mr. Cabrera was co-operative with the CHP Officers. Charges against Mr. Cabrera for DUI will be requested," a press release said. Cabrera is on the disabled list for the second time this season with a hamstring injury.
